Hypnotherapy

You find that you are faced with habit patterns that have lasted months, if not a life-time. Some of these habits work for you, some of them do not and are counter-productive. I offer to show you skills in Hypnotherapy that you can learn to use, to help you pull yourself out of any unwanted patterns and aim for a life that works better for you.

Why hypnotherapy?

People come to me for help in changing a range of behaviours. Some examples are nail biting, skin picking, hair pulling, stopping smoking, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, performance anxiety, phobias and fears, weight control, insomnia, blushing or stammering.

Hypnotherapy is not the same as counselling or Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT). You will find the process is about changing your state of mind and body more to a trance state. You will already know different trance or alpha states from your own experience:
What about day dreaming? Being absorbed in a book or music or film. Driving and arriving at your destination without recalling all the usual landmarks. Some of us are familiar with meditating. These are all good examples of alpha states, and these states can serve us if we refine our skills.

With the guidance of a Hypnotherapist, we can move in the direction that serves us. We learn to diminish the sense of pain, imagine well, enhance creativity, and increase memory recall, amongst other skills.

Developing your skills

You may wish to record your own hypnotic process. This way you can practise at home. You take yourself through the relaxing induction part of the process, increase the inner focus by deepening to a medium absorbed state perhaps with the breath or imagery, work on the helpful suggestions that comes before the final awakening process and then carry on with your life.

Treatment Sessions

Treatment consists of around four or more sessions where we support you in finding grounding and anchoring techniques, look for unhelpful self-statements, and reinforce beneficial self-statements.
