Alexander Technique Lessons
How do you learn the Alexander Technique?
The Technique is usually taught in one-to-one lessons with a qualified teacher, such as myself. I offer private Alexander Technique lessons.
Working with simple activities, such as walking, getting in and out of a chair and lying down, the teacher uses words and their hands to gently guide the student towards better co-ordination and alignment, while introducing the Alexander principles in interesting and practical ways. The muscles become toned and adaptable, where they were either overly tense or floppy before. Naturally, the body knows there is no need for a spasm to protect joints.
When you have become more self-aware and familiar with the process, you can go on to apply the Technique to improve everyday activities, such as writing, working at a computer, driving, bending and lifting, and more specialised tasks such as playing a musical instrument, sports, public speaking – almost anything.
